Children from across Manchester jumped right in to help others and raise money for charity at the fourth annual Big Birthday Appeal kids’ swimathon, raising over £1000 for local Jewish kids with special needs.

The event took place at the Manchester Airport Marriott Hotel in Hale where the children, aged between three and 12, each swam at their own pace while being cheered on by their parents.  The money they raised through sponsorship will help fund a holiday in North Wales for local Jewish children with special needs.  All the swimmers received a goody bag and a special certificate congratulating them on the number of lengths completed.

Suzy Glaskie, co-founder of the Big Birthday Appeal, said: “Our fourth swimathon has been another huge success.  It’s always lovely to see the children so proud of having done their bit to raise money for charity and they all left with huge smiles on their faces. To have raised over £1000 is such an achievement – we’re extremely proud of them.”
