Following the success of last year’s event, The Big Birthday Appeal is holding its second kids’ swimathon on Sunday, 23 June. It will take place from 11am until 1pm at the Manchester Airport Marriott Hotel leisure centre in Hale. Children of all ages and swimming abilities will be encouraged to raise money through sponsorship, with all donations going to The Fed’s Project Smile to fund respite care for local Jewish children with special needs.

Suzy Glaskie, co-founder of the Big Birthday Appeal, commented: “All the kids had a brilliant time last year and swam their hearts out. We’re expecting this year’s event to be even bigger. The swimathon is a fantastic way for kids to get active, have some fun in a lovely pool – and do their bit to raise money for children with special needs in their community.”

All participating children must register beforehand and should be able to swim a minimum of 50m unaided. Each child will receive a goody bag and certificate.

Project Smile provides respite care for Jewish children with special needs and their parents, who often care for them around the clock.

To register, or for more information, call or text Suzy on 07545 424 478 or email: info@thebigbirthdayappeal.org.
