Big Birthday Appeal holds coffee morning with Jeff Banks

Celebrity fashion guru Jeff Banks was the guest speaker at a coffee morning held by the Big Birthday Appeal.

Jeff, who has twice been named British Designer of the Year and was made a CBE in 2009 for services to the fashion industry, regaled more than 60 guests with his riveting life story: from the creation of his own fashion label, to his discovery of supermodel Naomi Campbell as a 15-year-old schoolgirl and the launch of The Clothes Show TV programme.

The £1200 raised from the coffee morning contributed to a holiday for 18 local Jewish children with special needs. The four-day break in Llandudno, organised and run by professionally trained staff from The Federation of Jewish Services, included special outings such as bowling and trips to the beach and zoo, and many varied, stimulating and fun activities.

“We’re absolutely delighted that somebody of Jeff Bank’s standing was willing to give up his precious time to come and support the Big Birthday. The coffee morning was a unique opportunity to get a first hand insight into the world of celebrity fashion. We were delighted to have raised so much money – and to have had such an entertaining morning in the process!”
